Delete Your Account in Sideline

This process applies to every Sideline account, whether you use Sideline on iOS or Android.

  1. Sign in to Sideline and open your Profile page.
  2. Select the Account tab.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select Delete Account.
  4. If your account has a password, enter your current password. SSO-only accounts do not need to enter a password.
  5. Leave Keep my data for 30 days checked to schedule deletion in 30 days. Uncheck it only if you want your account deleted immediately.
  6. Review the warning, then swipe to confirm the deletion request.

Deleting the Sideline app from your device does not delete your account.

Your Two Deletion Options

Delete in 30 days

Leave Keep my data for 30 days checked. Your account is scheduled for deletion, and Sideline displays the scheduled deletion date when it is available. Your account and its data are retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted. You may be able to recover the account during this period, but recovery is not guaranteed.

Delete immediately

Uncheck Keep my data for 30 days to request immediate deletion. Sideline will warn you that immediate deletion is permanent and cannot be recovered. After you swipe to confirm, your account is deleted immediately and the app returns to a working anonymous session.

Data We Delete

When we complete a verified account deletion request, we delete data associated with your Sideline account, including:

  • Your account record and authentication identifiers
  • Your name, username, email address, profile information, and account-level settings
  • Your follows, account activity, and user content you submitted to Sideline
  • Device, app usage, and log data linked to your account
  • Stored data received from connected third-party accounts, including Google or YouTube data that Sideline received under your authorization

Data We Keep

If you use the default scheduled-deletion option, we keep the account data listed above for 30 days before permanently deleting it. If you choose immediate deletion, we do not apply this retention period.

After account deletion, Sideline creates a new anonymous installation record and registers the device for push notifications. This anonymous installation ID and push token are not linked to your deleted account. Targeted account notifications stop, but the device may continue to receive general broadcast notifications, as it would without an account. Installation preferences such as theme and timezone remain on your device.

Deleting your Sideline account does not delete information held independently by Google, YouTube, app stores, or other third parties. Manage that data through the relevant provider.

If You Cannot Access the App

Email support@sideli.ne from the address associated with your account. Use the subject line Sideline account deletion request and include your username, if you know it. Never send us your password. We will verify account ownership and help complete the request.
